Tap Changer Transducer And Monitoring

General product information

Application

ZH02 is a transformer tap changer position transducer and monitoring device
for use as an auxiliary device to monitor the tap position and sends an analog signal
to a remote end device in order to show the position on the DCS display or for
monitoring and control purposes.

Features

Available for receiving 17 steps max.
Very stable analog output
Built in programmed distinct values of the analog output for each step and there is
self compensation to the analog output if it is deviated due to temperature changes
or due to component efficiency change
Graphical LCD is available for monitoring the tap position , analog output signal
and alarms (if found)
Alarm for out of position case
Alarm for open loop case of the RTU
Tap in progress indicator is available

Start up procedures

(1)Check the supply voltage; it has to be 110 V /- 20%.
(2)Check all wires coming from the local field, all must be free.
(3)The wiring must be connected to the device in the same order as it is existing in the
Tap changer, also common must be connected to COM pin in the device

(4)Connect the NO contact of the tap changer motor operating to the assigned position
in the device (T3- TIP)
(5)Switch power on. The LCD shows welcome note then the device enters the
Run mode.

Simple verification and commissioning can be made by enforcing the tap changer to any
Position ,you can check the following:

Tap position : the LCD must show the number of step at where tap is
Alarm for open loop case of the RTU: open the RTU, this alarm must appear.
The display shows ALARM 2: OPEN LOOP
Alarm for out of position case : Make no position case(for e.g. release the COM)
.this alarm must appear. The display shows ALARM 1: TAP OUT OF STEP

Tap in progress indicator: During tap changer operation (motor operation), the assigned indicator must be lit
Analog output: According to the step number, the analog output takes a distinct value.
The following table shows the output current corresponding to each tap

For 17 steps max, each step occupies interval width inside 4 to 20 mA range.
The remote end device (PLC or DCS .)must translate any value inside the
interval to step number (discrete mean). For accuracy, our device sends the
interval center current to the RTU
Let n: tap number 117
I: analog output (mA)
For equal spacing the analog values can be formulated as the following:

Interval start current 4 (16/17)(n-1) mA
Interval end current 4 (16/17) n mA
Interval center current4 (16/34)(2n-1) mA.
